NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home

Description: This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family and provides information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense. We will Complete the classroom portion on Friday, September 30th and continue with the Range portion on Saturday Morning.

Prerequisite: This course is for law-abiding adult citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state or local law, and experienced shooters (shooters able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearm, and cleaning the firearm). Prospective participants can demonstrate that they have the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes by producing an NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card, military DD 214 with pistol qualification, or passing the Pre-Course Assessment.

Archer Firearms Training Class Waiver

For participants to be successful in this course, they should have the following items, either personally owned or provided.

  • Quality Pistol appropriate for Home Defense – recommend minimum of 9mm or .38 Special

  • Quality ammunition suitable for practice. Encourage students to have at least two hundred rounds.

  • Spare magazines or speed loaders with appropriate pouches – at least two spares.

  • Clothing appropriate for concealed carry

  • Eye protection

  • Hearing protection - recommend electronic

ONLY HITS COUNT!!

The goal of each shooting exercise is to have all hits in the center of mass of the FBI Q or NRA D-1 Bianchi Target. You will not earn a course completion certificate until you are able to keep all shots within the center of mass on the target. We don’t grade on a curve.
